Google Guaranteed for Australian Roofers: Is It Available?

Many articles talk about Google Guaranteed badges and Local Services Ads as if every roofer can get them. In Australia, you can't. Here's what's actually available and what to do instead.

As of October 2026, Australian roofers can't get the Google Guaranteed badge or run Google Local Services Ads. Google's own help pages list the program in countries across North America and Europe, and Australia isn't one of them. If someone offers to get your roofing business "Google Guaranteed" in Australia, ask exactly what they mean. The tools that do work here are your free Google Business Profile and regular Google Ads.

This guide clears up the confusion and explains what Australian roofers can use instead.

What are Google Guaranteed and Local Services Ads?

Local Services Ads are a pay-per-lead ad format that shows at the very top of Google for some trades in some countries. Businesses that pass Google's screening can show a Google Guaranteed (or Google Screened) badge. If a customer is unhappy with work booked through the ad, Google may reimburse them up to a set limit.

Most of the content you'll find about Local Services Ads is written for the United States, where the format is well established. That's where the confusion starts.

Is Google Guaranteed available in Australia?

No, not as of October 2026. Google's help page for the Google Guarantee lists the maximum reimbursement amounts by country. The countries listed are Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States (Google Ads Help: The Google Guarantee). Australia isn't on the list.

When Google expanded Local Services Ads beyond North America, the rollout was to European countries, including Germany, the UK, France, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain (Search Engine Land). Again, Australia wasn't part of it.

Google does change its products, so if you see this page much later than October 2026, check Google's help pages yourself before deciding anything.

Why do Australian roofers keep hearing about it?

A few reasons:

  • Overseas content. Most blogs and videos about roofing marketing are American, and they talk about Local Services Ads as a standard tool.
  • Overseas agencies. Some agencies sell the same playbook in every country without checking what's available locally.
  • Similar-sounding things. Google Business Profile, Google Ads, and "Google Partner" agency badges are all different things, and they get mixed up.

If an agency promises to make you "Google Guaranteed" in Australia, it's fair to ask them to show you the Google page that says the program is available here.

Start with your Google Business Profile

Google says local results are "mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity" (Google Business Profile Help). For a roofer, that means the right categories, accurate service areas, real job photos, steady reviews and up-to-date details. It's free, and it's the closest thing Australian roofers have to the trust badge they read about. Our Google Business Profile guide walks through it.

Build reviews the right way

Reviews are your social proof on Google. Ask every customer, the same way, after every job. Don't offer incentives and don't only ask the happy ones. Google's review policies and Australian consumer law both take fake or filtered reviews seriously.

Use Google Search ads carefully

Regular Google Ads are available in Australia and can bring in urgent work like leak repairs. A few rules that save money:

See Paid Ads for how we approach this.

Make your website do its job

Your website should load fast on a phone, show your number in one tap, explain each service, and show real jobs in the suburbs you work in. It turns the searches your profile attracts into enquiries.

What should you ask an agency that mentions Google Guaranteed?

If a marketing agency brings up Google Guaranteed or Local Services Ads in a sales call, these questions sort out what they're really offering:

The last question matters most. Every paid click is wasted if nobody answers. Before spending on any ad, make sure missed calls get a text back and forms get a reply within minutes. We explain why in lead generation vs lead answering.

What should you do if a competitor shows a badge?

If you see a roofing business in Australia with a badge on Google, look closely. It may be review stars, a Google Ads label, or a "Google Partner" badge belonging to their marketing agency. None of those are the Google Guarantee. Focus on what you can control: your profile, your reviews and how fast you reply.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get Google Guaranteed in Australia?

Not as of October 2026. Google's Google Guarantee help page lists countries in North America and Europe, and Australia isn't among them. Check Google's help pages for the latest before you rely on any offer.

Are Google Local Services Ads available for roofers in Australia?

No. Local Services Ads haven't been rolled out to Australia as of October 2026. Australian roofers can use regular Google Ads and their free Google Business Profile instead.

What's the difference between Google Ads and Local Services Ads?

Google Ads (Search) charge per click and are available in Australia. Local Services Ads charge per lead, show a Google Guaranteed or Screened badge, and are only available in certain countries, which don't include Australia.

What's the best free way for a roofer to show up on Google?

A complete, active Google Business Profile with the right categories, service areas, real photos and regular reviews. Google says local ranking is mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence.

Is a "Google Partner" badge the same as Google Guaranteed?

No. Google Partner is a badge for marketing agencies that manage Google Ads. It says nothing about the roofing business itself and isn't a customer guarantee.
