What happened to Oneflare, and what roofers should do now

Oneflare was retired on 30 June 2026 and its website now redirects to Airtasker. Here is what changed for roofers and the practical next steps.

Oneflare closed on 30 June 2026. Its owner, Airtasker, retired the Oneflare brand and platform to focus only on Airtasker, and the Oneflare website and app now redirect to Airtasker. If you used Oneflare to find roofing work, that channel is gone. Your choices now are another marketplace, Airtasker itself, or building leads you own through Google, referrals and faster follow-up.

What exactly happened to Oneflare?

Oneflare was an Australian online marketplace that connected customers with local businesses, with a strong presence in trades and home improvement. Airtasker bought it in May 2022 for $9.8 million, paid in a mix of cash and Airtasker shares, according to Information Age (ACS). At the time it was described as Australia's third-largest local services platform, serving more than 540,000 customers and 14,500 verified businesses a year.

Four years later, Airtasker decided to run one marketplace instead of two. Oneflare's own help centre published a notice titled "Oneflare is closing: here's what you need to know". It said:

  • Oneflare would be retired on 30 June 2026, and the company would focus solely on Airtasker.
  • Accounts, jobs, chat history and saved information stayed accessible until 6pm AEST on 30 June 2026.
  • After that, the Oneflare website and app redirect to Airtasker.
  • Some categories had already been moved across to Airtasker.

Airtasker's support site now carries the same message under the title "Oneflare has retired".

Where did Oneflare's customers go?

The closure notices name only one destination: Airtasker. Homeowners who type oneflare.com.au now land on Airtasker, where they post a task and receive offers.

That matters for roofers, because Airtasker works differently. On Airtasker, customers post a task and Taskers make offers. Airtasker's help centre says the Tasker service fee ranges from 11.9% to 20% (excluding GST), depending on your tier, and is taken once the customer releases payment. The customer also pays a connection fee of 15.95% of the task value, capped at $49.95, unless they are an Airtasker member.

A commission on the job value works fine for a $300 gutter clean. It is a very different maths problem on a $15,000 re-roof. We cover that in detail in Airtasker for roofers: is it worth it?.

What should roofers do now?

If Oneflare was one of your lead sources, you have probably already noticed the gap. Here is a sensible order to work through.

1. Save what you can from your old enquiries

Oneflare's notice told users to save anything they needed before the shutdown. If you kept job details, names or phone numbers from Oneflare enquiries in your phone, email or quoting software, those people already know you. A short, friendly follow-up to old quotes is often the cheapest work you will find this year. Our guide on how to follow up roofing quotes has the exact messages.

2. Work out what Oneflare was actually worth to you

Before you replace it, check the numbers. Pull up the last 12 months and count:

What Oneflare was worth to you (last 12 months)

0/4 done

Your ticks are saved in this browser only.

If Oneflare brought in a handful of jobs a year, replacing it with another paid marketplace may not be the best use of money. If it was your main source, you need a replacement plan quickly.

3. Decide between renting leads and owning them

Every option falls into one of two buckets.

Rented leads Owned leads
Marketplaces like hipages and Airtasker Your Google Business Profile and Google Maps ranking
You pay per lead, per subscription or per job Your own website and booking form
Leads are often shared with other businesses Referrals and past customers
Stops the day you stop paying Builds over time and keeps working

Most roofers who do well use a mix: a marketplace to keep the diary full while they build the owned channels underneath. See Oneflare alternatives for roofers for a side-by-side comparison of the options.

4. Fix the leak before adding more water

Before you pay for any new lead source, check how fast you answer. If a missed call or a website form sits for hours, a new marketplace just gives you more leads to lose. A missed-call text-back and a set follow-up routine cost far less than a new subscription. Our guide on what missed calls cost a roofer walks through the maths with your own numbers.

5. Claim and fix your Google Business Profile

When a homeowner searches "roof repairs" plus their suburb, Google Maps results show up near the top. That traffic does not go to Airtasker or anyone else; it goes to whichever roofers have the strongest profiles nearby. If yours has old photos, wrong hours or no reviews, start there. Our Google Business Profile guide for roofers lists the fixes in order.

Is Airtasker the replacement for Oneflare?

For some trades, yes. For most roofers chasing larger jobs, probably not as a main source. Airtasker suits small, well-defined tasks that a customer can price up front. Roofing quotes usually need an inspection, a measure-up and a written scope, and the job values are high. A percentage fee scales with the job, so the bigger the roof, the bigger the fee.

That does not mean you should ignore it. Some roofers use Airtasker for small repair and gutter work to fill quiet days. Just go in with the fees written down, and compare them against what a job from your own Google profile costs you.

What this means for the lead market

Oneflare's closure leaves fewer large marketplaces for Australian tradies. The biggest remaining one is hipages. hipages Group's FY26 results presentation, lodged with the ASX in August 2026, reported 36,400 subscription businesses across Australia and New Zealand and an average subscription revenue per business of $2,475 for the year (hipages Group FY26 results). If you are weighing it up, read hipages cost for roofers and is hipages worth it for roofers first.

Where LeadKites fits

LeadKites sells a done-for-you lead system to Australian roofers, so we have a stake in this topic. We don't sell marketplace leads. We answer every enquiry within 60 seconds, follow up every quote, and build your own lead channels on Google. If you want a second opinion on what to do after Oneflare, our free lead audit looks at your missed calls, your Maps ranking and your old quotes. You can also start with the $497 Quote Reactivation Sprint, which follows up your old quotes for 14 days and is refunded if it books zero inspections.

Frequently asked questions

When did Oneflare close?

Oneflare closed on 30 June 2026. Accounts and data stayed accessible until 6pm AEST that day, and the website and app now redirect to Airtasker, according to Oneflare's help centre.

Who owned Oneflare?

Airtasker owned Oneflare. It bought the business in May 2022 for $9.8 million, paid partly in cash and partly in Airtasker shares.

Can I still log in to my Oneflare business account?

No. After 6pm AEST on 30 June 2026 the Oneflare website and app redirect to Airtasker. Oneflare's notice told users to save anything they needed before that time and to contact support with questions before the shutdown.

Is Airtasker the same as Oneflare for tradies?

No. Airtasker is a task marketplace where Taskers make offers and pay a service fee of 11.9% to 20% (excl. GST) of the task price, depending on their tier. That model suits smaller, clearly priced jobs better than large roofing work.

What is the best Oneflare alternative for a roofer?

It depends on your job size and how fast you answer enquiries. Many roofers combine one paid marketplace with their own Google Business Profile, website and quote follow-up. We compare the options in our guide to Oneflare alternatives for roofers.
